The Gospel Proud Christian day 1

Welcome to the Proud Christian Challenge devos! Let’s start in the right place - the gospel. At the start of the Gospel of Mark (1:1), the Bible says, “The beginning of the good news (gospel) about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God.” The gospel - “good news” about Jesus - is the simple and true story of salvation brought to the world through Jesus’ life (became a man), death (died on the cross for our sins), resurrection (defeated sin and death), and ascension (he is alive today). This is spelled out in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, but as we find in Mark 1:1, the gospel is simplified down to Jesus who is called by two names: “Messiah” which means “chosen one” or “deliverer” who came to earth to provide salvation by his death and resurrection. And “Son of God” signifying his divine nature, perfection, and authority with God. In short, believing the gospel is believing that Jesus is risen and that Jesus is Lord. This is the simple confession and belief that changes a person from spiritual death to life (Romans 10:9). This is our hope!

Reflection: There are a variety of tools you can use to simply articulate the gospel in conversation. Follow the link below for more help on this. Don’t overwhelm yourself with each method (and feel free to disregard if you already feel like you have your bearings), but reflect on one that connects with you and get to know it well.
