Valley Church Ministry Opportunity & Promotion Process

At Valley Church, we love seeing people take initiative to build relationships, study God's Word, serve others, and create opportunities for spiritual growth and community. We believe God often works through ordinary people who are willing to step out and lead. At the same time, not every opportunity can receive the same level of support, promotion, or church resources. To steward our people, facilities, staff time, and communication channels well, Valley Church evaluates each request according to mission alignment, leadership readiness, available resources, and ministry priorities. This process exists to help us partner wisely while encouraging ministry initiative throughout our church family.

Please review the following information, and then click the link at the bottom of the page to fill out the required Ministry  Reqest Form.

Partnership Levels

Partnership levels help us determine the degree of involvement, support, and oversight Valley Church may have with a ministry opportunity, event, or initiative. Not every ministry request requires the same level of church resources, promotion, leadership involvement, or financial support. Identifying the appropriate partnership level allows us to steward our people, finances, facilities, and communication channels well while encouraging members to take initiative in ministry.

Partnership levels may influence factors such as church endorsement, use of facilities, promotional support, volunteer recruitment, budgeting, staff involvement, and ongoing accountability. All partnership requests are reviewed individually and are subject to approval based on alignment with Valley Church's mission, values, priorities, available resources, and ministry calendar.

Level 1: Personal Initiative

These are activities organized by members or attenders that are beneficial but are not official ministries of Valley Church.

Examples:

    • Neighborhood Bible studies
    • Hobby groups
    • Recreational activities
    • Informal gatherings
    • Community service projects

Valley's Role:

    • We celebrate and encourage these efforts.
    • Individuals may invite others personally.
    • Activities are not promoted as official Valley Church ministries.
    • Church resources are generally not provided.

Level 2: Church-Supported Opportunities

These are activities that align with Valley Church's mission and values and may receive limited support from the church.

Examples:

    • Bible studies
    • Book studies
    • Discipleship groups
    • Specialized ministry opportunities
    • Seasonal classes

Possible Support:

    • Church sign-up page
    • Website listing
    • Announcement loop
    • Limited facility use
    • Staff coaching and guidance

*Support is determined based on ministry priorities and available resources.*

Level 3: Church Ministries

These are ministries that become part of Valley Church's ongoing ministry strategy and receive regular oversight and support.

Examples:

    • Small Groups
    • Valley 101
    • Ministry training initiatives
    • Church-wide discipleship programs
    • Major outreach efforts

Possible Support:

    • Full communication support
    • Sign-ups
    • Calendar priority
    • Budget consideration
    • Staff oversight
    • Sunday morning promotion when appropriate

Communication & Promotion Guidelines

Because attention is limited during Sunday gatherings, Valley Church reserves Sunday morning announcements for church-wide priorities.

Sunday Morning Announcements

Generally, opportunities announced from the stage should:

    • Impact approximately 80% or more of the congregation; OR
    • Be a major church-wide initiative; OR
    • Be a significant time-sensitive opportunity approved by church leadership.

*Approval of a ministry opportunity does not automatically include a Sunday morning announcement.*

Other Communication Channels

Approved opportunities may be promoted through:

    • Church website
    • Sign-up pages
    • Weekly email
    • Announcement loop
    • Social media (when appropriate)

*The communication channel selected will depend on the audience, timing, and strategic importance of the opportunity.*

Request Timeline

To allow adequate time for review, planning, and communication, requests should be submitted at least four weeks before promotion or launch is desired. Requests submitted less than four weeks in advance may not be able to receive communication support.

Evaluation Criteria

Church leadership may consider the following questions when reviewing requests:

Mission Alignment

    • Does this opportunity help people follow Jesus, grow spiritually, or build biblical community?

Theological Alignment

    • Are the leadership and materials consistent with Valley Church's beliefs and values?

Leadership Readiness

    • Is the proposed leader spiritually mature and prepared to lead others?

Strategic Fit

    • Does this opportunity support the church's current ministry direction and goals?

Resource Stewardship

    • Do we have the facilities, volunteers, staff time, childcare, equipment, and communication capacity needed to support this request?

Congregational Impact

    • Who will this opportunity serve, and what level of promotion is appropriate for that audience?

*Church leadership reserves the right to approve, modify, postpone, or decline requests based on these considerations.*
